March 1, 2007 - July 13, 2007 Picker Art Gallery, Dana Arts Center Pete Turner Photographs: Taken over a period of forty years, Pete Turner's photographs attest to wide travels. From Scandinavia to East Africa to a tiny island off the coast of Spain, Turner seeks the essence of the places he visits, rather than a mere accumulation of details. Color unifies his many ports of call. Monochromatic images in cool indigo, dusty yellow, and juicy orange emphasize textures and shadows, and suggest a deeply personal engagement quite unlike a conventional tourist's experience. This exhibition features a recently-acquired portfolio of photographs by Pete Turner, donated by David Ganz, Class of 1992. |
