Opening December 7, 2005 MAIN GALLERY Figure Drawings from the Collection This installation, featuring a recent gift to the Picker Art Gallery by Edwin J. Safford '58, places a figure study by Willem de Kooning alongside works of unexpected visual affinity by Keith Vaughan, Hyman Bloom, Duncan Grant, and Michael Yoffe. Despite the differences in their styles, the exhibited drawings - all drawn from the permanent collection - share an intense interest in the physicality of the body. Considered together, these drawings suggest infinite possibilities for portraying the human form. The exhibition was curated by Heather Berger '06.
