The twelve etchings, dating to 1747, are a recent acquisition of the Picker Art Gallery. Hogarth tells the story of two apprentices in 18^th century London, one lazy, the other studious. The series was “calculated for the use and instruction of youth” (Hogarth) and provides entertainment as well as education.
